MODICA

Modica (15 Kmts. away from Casa Giorgio) is called the city of a hundred churches.

Its architecture has been recognised as providing outstanding testimony to the exuberant genius and flowering of Baroque art in Europe and, along with other towns in the Val di Noto, is part of UNESCO Heritage Sites in Italy. Landmarks include the Cathedral of San Giorgio, the Church of San Pietro and the castle of the Counts of Modica. Modica boasts of having great chocolate, the city invites tourists to see for themselves during ChocoModica, a chocolate festival held every year.

NOTO

Near Pozzallo (28 kmts. away) you can visit the Baroque of Val di Noto and its area Iblea, Patrimony of UNESCO

Noto boasts of having one of Sicily's most beautiful historic centres. The pièce de résistance is Corso Vittorio Emanuele, an elegantly manicured walkway flanked by thrilling baroque palazzi and churches. Also worth visiting is the Tina Di Lorenzo Theatre, a beautiful example of fine architecture outstanding itself from the rest of the city.
